ABOUT US

AriHara Kyoto|Kyoto, Japan

Concept

This is a space where visitors can experience popular Japanese traditional games such as Kendama and Origami in a simple and casual way while enjoying a Japanese atmosphere. We aim to create a space where children and adults can freely enjoy playing traditional Japanese games, and we have a variety of toys that can be played together with other adults as well as with parents and children. We hope you will find toys and games of interest among the many traditional Japanese games.

And we will provide free drinks so that you can rest your body after a long day of walking around Kyoto sightseeing. Please take off your shoes, unload your luggage, and relax in our little Kyoto home. As a friendly place for mothers and fathers with infant children, we also provide a nursing room and diaper changing area, as well as a futon for babies.

I would be happy if I could help you make your trip to Kyoto memorable with "I enjoyed coming to Kyoto! "and we would be happy if we can help you create memories of your trip to Kyoto.

Greeting

I have worked in the childcare field as a nursery teacher for many years. I also enjoy traveling abroad, and when I travel, I enjoy experiencing the culture of the country I am visiting and enjoying the special feeling of being there. I opened "AriHana Kyoto" with the hope of creating a place where visitors to Kyoto can easily experience the traditional Japanese games that I used to play with my children.

"AriHana" stands for "Arigatou no Hana", which means "Arigatou = Thanks" and "Hana = Flower". "Thank you" is my favorite word. I named the store "AriHana Kyoto" in the hope that this "Thank you" will bloom all over the world.

Children love to be physically active, but they are more focused when there is both vigorous and calm activity. The same is true for adults as well, and incorporating time for rest and relaxation will help them to be more balanced and make their trips more fulfilling.
Experiential activities are also expected to serve as the foundation for a rich humanity, the ability to learn and think for oneself, and other life skills, as well as food for children's growth. What "you experience" becomes "your own thing," and by fully exercising the five senses, you can feel things and "enjoy" them, so you will be able to bring home with you the accumulation of real experiences in Kyoto.
Enjoy the Japanese culture and atmosphere with your friends, family, parents and children at "AriHana Kyoto".

Finally...I hope "AriHana Kyoto" will be a bridge between Japan and the world.

About the building

Kyoto has many narrow alleys, and old houses such as "Kyo-machiya" and "nagaya" (row houses) are part of the charm of the cityscape.

AriHana Kyoto is located in a traditional Japanese tenement house, called a "nagaya," which is a house that shares a wall with its neighbors and is characterized by several dwellings being combined into one. Often, rows of nagaya are located close together, forming narrow alleys.

Old Japanese houses often have low entrance doors and ceilings, and the stairs are very steep. (Please be careful not to hit your head on the entrance door and be careful going up and down the stairs.) Although the house is small, you can sit in a tatami room with your legs stretched out and fully enjoy the Japanese atmosphere while refreshing your body and mind.
