Experience Traditional Japanese Culture at AriHana Kyoto – A Fun Family-Friendly Indoor Activity Spot Near Kiyomizu-dera

2025.02.26
category information

AriHana Kyoto, located near the famous Kiyomizu-dera Temple on Gojozaka, is an indoor play center designed to bring traditional Japanese games and crafts to life. It is a perfect destination for families with children, offering an interactive and educational experience for all ages.

One of the highlights is our Hyakunin Isshu Tower. Hyakunin Isshu is a traditional Japanese card game that involves quickly finding the matching card after listening to a famous poem. The game is challenging and fun, and we’ve made it even more exciting by turning the beautiful illustrated Hyakunin Isshu cards into a tower! These cards feature gorgeous, traditional Japanese artwork, making the experience both enjoyable and visually appealing.

At AriHana Kyoto, we offer Hyakunin Isshu cards in English so visitors from all around the world can enjoy the game. We also have a matching game version for those looking for a simpler experience, making it accessible for both kids and adults.

Our play center is filled with a variety of traditional Japanese toys like kendama (Japanese skill toy), origami, and many more. These toys provide a fantastic opportunity for children to explore Japan’s rich culture in a fun and hands-on way. Our indoor environment is carefully designed to ensure kids can play and learn in a comfortable space, making it the ideal place for family bonding.

Additionally, visitors can enjoy DIY workshops where they can paint their own kendama, try the classic Japanese toy Daruma Otoshi, create a kaleidoscope, or design a traditional uchiwa fan. These crafts make for great souvenirs, and you can take home a piece of Japanese culture as a keepsake from your Kyoto trip.

We welcome visitors all year round, and if you’re visiting Kyoto during the spring when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, AriHana Kyoto is the perfect indoor escape for families. No reservations are required—just come by and enjoy a memorable experience with your loved ones.
