A German Family Enjoyed a Relaxing Cultural Experience at AriHana Kyoto

2025.12.06
category customer's opinions

Yesterday, we welcomed a wonderful family visiting from Germany. Their two-year-old son tried origami for the very first time and, together with his parents, proudly completed a cute origami cat. The family also enjoyed exploring our hiragana wooden blocks. The mother read the characters aloud with ease, creating a very warm and peaceful moment together.

The parents had great fun experimenting with traditional Japanese toys such as kendama and daruma otoshi. They tried several times, laughing as they improved with each attempt. They mentioned that “temple sightseeing in Kyoto can be difficult for young children,” and were delighted to find a place where the whole family could relax and enjoy hands-on Japanese culture.

AriHana Kyoto is an indoor play space located near Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Sanjūsangen-dō, making it an ideal stop during Kyoto sightseeing—especially on cold or rainy days. Our traditional Japanese activities are popular with visitors of all ages. In addition to origami, kendama and daruma otoshi are often enjoyed by adults and purchased as unique souvenirs. Younger children particularly love our Japanese picture books, and even when read in Japanese, they happily follow the story and illustrations.

AriHana Kyoto can be used as a children’s play area, a family-friendly activity spot, an origami or calligraphy experience venue, or a relaxing rest stop during family travel in Kyoto. If you are looking for Japanese cultural experiences with kids or fun family activities in Kyoto, we would be delighted to welcome you.
